ABSOLUTELY LOVE the history involving the Sierras! Just finished a book you recommended “The Last Season” by Eric Blehm. Great stuff! I might recommend books on Norman Clyde. Another “Muir” type that became a Legendary mountaineer of the Sierra Nevada around the same time and also worked with people like Muir finding routes through the Sierras.Rumor has it that he would even carry a small anvil in his pack to repair his boots while on the trail.
Please keep the history lessons coming! Thanks for all you do Ray!

On another note, what have you heard about trail conditions this year with the 200+% snow fall. I heard Florence Lake is being drained for dam repair which may affect JMTR food re- supply as well as a short season for JMTR.
