Ray — I’m saddened to see that you apparently packed a chisel and defaced a National Forest sign… 😉

On the topic of stress and the JMT: What a pleasure to hike without needing to worry about where the next water will be, or having to deal with a 30-mile waterless stretch!

A frequent topic of discussion between my hiking partner and me on the JMT: “Look how fit we are getting! But how can we maintain this level of fitness once we have finished the JMT, since we can’t realistically hike all day every day?” I still haven’t found a good answer to that question, so I’ve addressed it by planning a PCT thru-hike for 2016.

Thanks for a great blog, and happy hiking in 2016!

Thanks for the post, Ray! Love the sign and the reminders. Planning my hike for late summer but never too early to start preparing, getting in shape, physically and emotionally. Hope you are enjoying the holidays and the snow! Happy new year, Diane and George
